iPhone or Windows Mobile
I am up for an upgrade with AT&T Wireless and I am trying to figure out what phone I want to get. I am torn between the iPhone 3G, HTC FUZE and Samsung Epix. I can’t decide which one I want to get. I am not a big fan of Apple, I have a Zune, Media Center PC (vista) and another Vista laptop. Not to say I’m pro microsoft, I just hate the “Apple Tax”.
However in this case I am considering an Apple product since the “Apple Tax” really doesn’t apply. The 16 gig iPhone is $300, the FUZE is $300, and the EPIX is $200. So they are all in the same price range.
I have 2 major issues with the iPhone, lack of a physical keyboard and no tethering. While tethering isn’t a deal breaker, a lack of keyboard could be. If I can’t get used to the onscreen keyboard, the iPhone is useless to me.
The FUZE was kind of slow when I bought it so I think that is pretty much out. I have the AT&T Tilt (HTC) right now, but it is also kind of slow.
The Epix was responsive and quick. The touch screen and mouse was nice but the mouse was kind of awkward to use and the screen is small compared to the iPhone, FUZE and Tilt.
My other fear is that the iPhone is more pretty then functional. Right now I use phoneAlarm to change my sound profiles based on my calendars, GooSync to sync my contacts and calendars, and Remember The Milk Sync for my tasks. I don’t know if all of these are compatible but I need at bare minimum GooSync and the functionality of phoneAlarm, built in or through an app. I don’t use iTunes and have not looked through the app store, so if you can answer my questions, please do. I am a power user that wants a device that just works. I can’t stand having to reboot windows mobile so if the iPhone will fit my needs, please tell me.

CSV to iCal (Generic) Update 4
Ok, so I have been getting the messages about the errors and I have finally had a chance to look into debugging. So I changed the code around a bit and now it will throw a more detailed error with the file type it thinks you tried to upload. Please post the link to the error you get. It should look something like “http://www.thegreatco.com/csvtoical/calendar.php?msg=3&detail=”. It is the information after the “detail=” that will help me figure out the problem. I do have a few questions for those getting errors, what browser/OS are you using? I know this works on vista, I use it myself so I can’t figure out why its not working. Need your help with this one, make sure to put in your 2cents.
Thanks,
TheGreatCO

Weirdest Super Mario Brothers Theme Songs
So in my endless crawling of the web, I came across one of the funniest and creative posts I’ve seen in a while. The 7 Weirdest Super Mario Bros Theme Song Performances is a nice collection of people playing the Super Mario Bros. Theme Song. They range from hand farts to a guy with 2 guitars to Tesla Coils modulated to play music. Not only are these extremely creative, but all them in one place is great. Read more

Media Center Edition TV Pack 2008
So I got my hands on a copy of these updates for Media Center and I’ll be honest, I’m not too thrilled. The only thing that seems to have benefitted me is the wtv file format. It shaves a good 5-10% off the file size. They also changed the setup sequence for tuners a bit, but they still don’t support hybrid tuners. This means I still have to hack MCE to use my ATI 600 USB. Supposedly it adds support for ClearQAM broadcasts buy since I live in a college dorm, there is barely cable, let alone ClearQAM. So once again there is hype and no follow through from Microsoft on one of their flagship products. I guess all the programmers went to work on IE8. Let me know if anybody else has had any better experiences.
