CSV to iCal (Generic) Update 3
So, I think I have finally completed it. It authenticates against my userbase and does everything I feel it needs to do at a minimum. Feel free to check it out. http://www.thegreatco.com/csvtoical/login.php You will need to sign up for an account on my blog to get access to it. But it is free and I am just using the login as a little extra security. Let me know what you think.
UPDATE: I have removed the requirement for you to log in to access the converter. Should be open for all. Please post updates to let me know what needs improvement.
UPDATE: Please check here for the latest update on the subject!

I feel silly, but can’t figure out how to download “csvtoical”
I created an account, but when I log in it appears to want me to upload a csv file…
Oh, maybe I get it…
Your login does the conversion?
You must upload a file to be converted. It is not a program to be downloaded. I figured it easier to do all the conversion on my server instead of making people install PHP and run it that way. Just easier to have them upload a CSV and do the conversion on the server. Email me with any problems.
Is this supposed to be working still? I tried it but kept getting “File is not a CSV, only CSV files are allowed to be uploaded.” even though it’s definately a csv file i’m trying to load
Well, it should still be working. I will look into it. The file must have the file extension “.csv”.
Hi, your service was exactly what I was looking for, being forced to use MS Outlook at work, and not being able to sync with my phone/CSV files.
However, it doesn’t work for me – the days and months are the wrong way round, ie instead of being DDMMYY, it seems to be MMDDYY. Is there a workaround for this?
I will definitely add this to my list of things to look into. Can I ask what format they are in for your file?
Great, it’d open it up to a lot more people if there was a way to change this – I think it is only America that uses MM/DD/YYYY.
My csv file is DD/MM/YYYY
Thanks for your hard work
I tried using your converter on an Outlook csv I downloaded from the Thrashers. I received this error “File is not a CSV, only CSV files are allowed to be uploaded.”.
I was using this file “http://thrashers.nhl.com/ext/PDF/0809Thrashers_schedule_outlook.csv”

I’m having the same problem–it says my file isn’t a csv file, although it is and it has the .csv extension. I edited and saved it in Excel as a .csv.
Are you uploading files from a mac? I have a feeling there is a difference in the way mac’s and pc’s provide the data type information to the server. I don’t use mac’s so I’m not sure how I’m gonna get around that…
I am getting the same error as everyone else. Just to check, I used the export function from Outlook, and even then it says, “File is not a CSV, only CSV files are allowed to be uploaded.”
Hi
I tried to registr – never recieved PW
Can you help me??
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_BOOLEAN_OR in /var/www/thegreatco.com/www/csvtoical/config.php on line 356
My previous post is the error I receive when trying to use the converter.
Thanks
I fixed the code, I didn’t realize it was generating an error. It should be working now.
Is this still working? I can see that last comment was from 2010. I have registered a couple of weeks ago but never got my password.
